Couples Therapy
It wasn't supposed to be like this
At one point your relationship was amazing. You were connected. Finished each others sentences and you knew deep down this was the person you wanted to spend all your time with.
But now…
You feel like you are walking on eggshells. You are more alone in your relationship or marriage than when you were single. You are confused and afraid of starting a conversation with your spouse or partner because it leads to intense arguments, frustration, isolation, and ultimately hurt, rejection, and sadness.
You might be wondering why things are not working in the relationship, while dealing with intense feelings of anxiety and depression. In relationships a couple might try to bargain or negotiate for compassion or connection in hopes of reducing conflict and tension; however, these are intellectual responses and inadvertently take couples away from what truly want, safety, partnership, and love which are emotional.
Nobody wants to admit things are as bad as they are…
We reach out to friends and get advice. Talk to your parents, but what they tell us doesn’t work either. And what do they actually know? They have multiple divorces in their past also. What happened that made this relationship seem to get so out of control? So far from what we used to have?
We keep trying to go back to the good times.
We all want a relationship with a felt sense of closeness and emotional responsiveness. It seems coded into your very DNA. However, there are times in relationships where you feel isolated and abandoned leaving you feeling anxious or depressed. You may find yourself saying “where did our love go?” or “I do not know how we get stuck in the same argument… I don’t feel heard or appreciated.” Or maybe you feel like you are failing. Either way, you did not realize marriage would be so hard.
Reach Out Today
If you are ready to start re-building your relationship and find a new and better connect, we are here to help you on your way.
We need a guide
Even though your marriage is in a rocky spot you still desire a safe, loving, lasting relationship. This is possible when you have a map. Together we will embark on a journey to help you regain the connection you long for. The goal is to explore, identify, and build tools to help you and your partner have the loving and lasting relationship you both long for.
Recapture the connection you once had and create something even better.
In our work together we will cover areas related to:
Understand love and how it relates to connection
Recognizing when you are stuck in harmful communication
Identify what can push love and connection away
How to have hard conversations
How to communicate with compassion and empathy
Asking for connection and understanding
Forgiveness and reconciliation
Creating deeper connection through touch and sex
How to keep the feeling of love alive and well
A new connection and deeper understanding
When you have the right map, the tools, and commitment to build something new there is hope.
Our goal is to create a safe and inviting place to gain perspective and practical skills to recapture the love you once shared and develop an even deeper connection. We have helped couples just like you move from a place of frustration and hopelessness to a place of connection and trust.
